Arequipa is the colonial-era capital of Peru’s Arequipa Region. Framed by 3 volcanoes, it’s filled with baroque buildings constructed from sillar, a white volcanic stone. Its historic center is anchored by the Plaza de Armas, a stately main square flanked on its north by the 17th-century neoclassical Basilica Cathedral, which houses a museum displaying religious objects and artwork.
DAY 1: AREQUIPA IN - CITY TOUR
Reception and transfer to selected hotel.
P.M. We will start the visit of the White City of Arequipa, visiting the Plaza de Armas, which presents a beautiful bronze fountain of three plates crowned with the figure of a soldier of the sixteenth century. Here we can appreciate the Cathedral and the Cloisters of the Company of Jesus, then visit the Monastery of Santa Catalina which was a center of absolute closure which was closed for centuries to the public, today harmoniously restored and open allows us to appreciate what Was the city of Arequipa in the seventeenth century, we will see its streets, gardens, cloisters, rustic stone washing, walls of sillar and its gallery, then we move to the beautiful and green fields of Carmen Alto, Mirador de Yanahuara where we will have A privileged view of the city and volcanoes such as Misti, Pichupichu and Chachani, then return to the Hotel, Overnight.
DAY 2: AREQUIPA - CHIVAY
Early in the morning we will go to the Colca Valley located in the Province of Caylloma at 3,600 m.s.n.m. In the route we will pass through the district of Yura, Pampa Cañahua, a place where you can appreciate the vicuñas, we will pass by that was the crater of the Chucure colvan. Also, we will reach Patapampa, the highest point (4,800 m.s.n.m.) from where you will appreciate the largest number of volcanoes in the department of Arequipa. We will arrive at the village of Chivay and we will settle in the hotel. Then we will have some time to be able to have lunch (free by the pax). At the right time we will visit the thermal baths of La Calera (optional).
DAY 3: CHIVAY - CRUZ DEL CONDOR - AREQUIPA
We will leave immediately to visit the Cruz del Cóndor, a place with a breathtaking view of the valley and from where we can appreciate the flight of the condors and the depth of the canyon (3,400 meters deep). On the way back we will visit the village of Pinchollo, the Pre-Inca Hanging Tombs, Litomoquetas, the village of Maca, Achola, the village of Yanque and Chivay. Lunch at the restaurant of Chivay (lunch on account of the pax). Return to the city of Arequipa. Overnight
DAY 4: AREQUIPA - OUT
At the right time transfer to the station / airport for return to the city of origin
